All MPN Presenting Members, please join us in beautiful Red Wing, MN. There will be lots of time to brainstorm, mingle and talk with each other along with some directed conversation topics. The summer conference is our time to gather to renew, reflect, learn and relax with fellow presenters.

Our keynote speaker for this summer conference is Oskar Eustis!! Artistic Director for the Public Theater in New York City, one of the inner "cabinet" for the creation of HAMILTON, charismatic speaker and all around fascinating man . . . and originally from Red Wing!


Oskar Eustis has served as the Artistic Director of The Public Theater since 2005.  He came to The Public from Trinity Repertory Company in Providence, RI where he served as Artistic Director from 1994 to 2005.  Eustis served as Associate Artistic Director at Los Angeles’ Mark Taper Forum from 1989 to 1994, and prior to that he was with the Eureka Theatre Company in San Francisco, serving as Resident Director and Dramaturg from 1981 to 1986 and Artistic Director from 1986 to1989. Eustis is currently a Professor of Dramatic Writing and Arts and Public Policy at New York University, and has held professorships at UCLA, Middlebury College, and Brown University, where he founded and chaired the Trinity Rep/Brown University Consortium for professional theater training. Throughout his career, Eustis has been dedicated to the development of new plays as a director, dramaturg, and producer.  At The Public, Eustis directed the New York premieres of Rinne Groff’s Compulsion and The Ruby Sunrise, and Larry Wright’s The Human Scale.  At Trinity Rep, he directed the world premiere of Paula Vogel’s The Long Christmas Ride Home and Tony Kushner’s Homebody/Kabul, both recipients of the Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Production.  While at the Eureka Theatre, he commissioned Tony Kushner’s Angels in America, and directed its world premiere at the Mark Taper Forum.  Eustis has also directed the world premieres of plays by Philip KanGotanda, David Henry Hwang, Emily Mann, Suzan-Lori Parks, Ellen McLaughlin, and Eduardo Machado, among many others.

Cost: $125 for the first person from an organization, $75 for additional people from your organization.

Lodging: Discounted rooms available at the St. James Hotel. Group rate is $119 plus tax. Reservations must be made by May 12 to get the discounted rate. Call 651-388-2846 and ask for the "MN Presenter's Network block."

MPN will conduct a business meeting. Following the meeting, members will share about their most successful events. Presenters are asked to bring a one-sheet of info about the event and its components that will be made available for other presenters to take with them.

Blake Potthoff, Fairmont Opera House and Jeff Larson, Arts Progress

Join Blake Pothoff and Jeff Larson as they share ideas on engaging millennial audiences and creating successful social media campaigns.

 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM – Lunchtime Dine Around Discussions

Lunch with the group you signed up with at check-in. Presenters will lead topic-based groups in lunchtime conversation.

Servicing our communities through the arts requires resources and support. The panel will lead a discussion on ways to bring dollars through the door, including subscriptions, memberships, sponsorships, individual giving and more. Come to listen and learn, and bring a story or best fundraising practice to share.

2:30 – 3:20 PM – Successfully Balancing Work & Life

Jeff Larson, Arts Progress

We’re all understaffed and overworked. How do you balance priorities as a leader? This presentation by Jeff Larson will include strategies for success in arts administration and work/life balance.

3:30 – 4 PM – How to Slow Down the Crazies

Carolyn Hedin, Bluewater Yoga

Carolyn Hedin will demonstrate ways you can stay healthy during long hours in the office - from stretching and exercise at your desk to other examples of self-care.

4:15 – 5 PM – Arts Midwest

Staff from Arts Midwest will be available to speak about Arts Midwest grants and this year’s conference.

5 – 6 PM – Social Hour with Cash Bar and Hors D’oeuvres

6 PM – Keynote Address
